Ingrid Griffith
Ingrid Griffith hails from Guyana, South America. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from City College of New York, and a master’s degree in Creative Writing.
Ingrid is a trained actress with an extensive theatrical background. She studied acting with New York acting coaches: Wyn Handman, Vivian Matalon and Terry Schreiber. She has appeared in productions at John Jay College, The American Place Theatre, Aaron Davis Hall, Claire Rose Playhouse and South Hampton Cultural Center in contemporary roles, as well as the classics. She has been in off-broadway theatrical productions in and around New York City. Some of her favorite roles are Lady Reveller in the 18th century play, The Basset Table by Susanna Centlivre, Mrs. Muller in John Patrick Shanley's, Doubt, Hedda Gabler in Henrik Ibsen's, Hedda Gabler, various characters in Eve Ensler's, Vagina Monologues, and Elaine Mays in Anna Deavere Smith’s, Twilight: Los Angeles.
In addition to her acting, Ingrid is a writer. She has written and performed two solo plays/shows: Demerara Gold and Unbossed and Unbowed that have caught media attention.
About DEMERARA GOLD - In July 2014, it was premiered at the Midtown International Theatre Festival in Manhattan, where Ingrid was nominated as the Best Solo-Show Performer. In the fall of 2014, DEMERARA GOLD won Ingrid a Godfrey Chin Award for Heritage Journalism from the Guyana Cultural Association of New York, Inc. In May 2016, she was one of the 50 honorees at the Guyana 50 @ 50th Independent Anniversary Event in New York City.
Between 2015 and 2016, Ingrid took Demerara Gold on tour, gracing audiences across the U.S. and abroad. In the US, audiences came to S. Oxford Space, Brooklyn; NYC Technical College; York College; John Jay College of Criminal Justice; Brooklyn College; Bronx, NY; Indo-Caribbean Alliance, Queens, NY; Fort Washington, MD; The Triad, New York City; Decatur, GA; Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, and South Orange, NJ.
Internationally:
Demerara Gold was played in the UK at London, Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Patadar Theatre, Wembley.
In Guyana at The Theater Guild, Georgetown; The Guyana National Cultural Centre, Georgetown; and in New Amsterdam, Berbice.

Additionally, Ingrid has written articles on fitness and popular culture that were published in magazines, including Essence, The Source and Pro Sports. She also wrote a column for The Newark Star-Ledger.
In a nutshell, Ingrid is an actress, playwright, fitness professional, health and fitness writer, tutor of children ages 5-10, facilitator of conflict-resolution program and a public speaker. Currently, she is an adjunct in the Communication and Theater Arts Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Ingrid is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Theater Radio Association, and Dramatist Guild. She has recently written and began performing as a soloist in Unbossed and Unbowed.
